Thread: Concert in aid of the Baby Loss Awareness Campaign

Building on the success of the 2009 event, Les Dennis has confirmed that he will host this year’s charity concert in aid of the Baby Loss Awareness Campaign. Martin Shaw has also confirmed that he will introduce the evening. To mark Worldwide Pregnancy and Baby Loss Awareness Week, a host of talented acts will perform a dazzling evening cabaret including actor Stefan Booth (Eastenders, Hollyoaks, and The Bill) and Belle Humble (singer and songwriter) at The Leicester Square Theatre at 7.30pm.
The Baby Loss Awareness Campaign exists to promote October 15th as National Baby Loss Awareness Day within the UK, to promote the annual “Global Wave of Light” events and services where parents can acknowledge their losses and to highlight awareness and understanding of the impact of pregnancy and baby loss among health and social care workers and the community at large.

THE CONCERT IN AID OF THE BABY LOSS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN will start with an invitation to everyone attending to light a candle and to contribute to the Global Wave of Light in memory of people's losses. This will be followed by an evening of fantastic music and comedy. Some of the songs have been written by the brilliant singer song writers performing and others will be familiar tunes arranged especially for the occasion. It will be an evening to acknowledge loss, look forward to the future, raise your spirits and raise awareness.

Baby Loss is a subject close to many of the performers’ hearts. Les Dennis and his wife Claire lost a baby last year following an ectopic pregnancy. They happily had a baby girl earlier this year.

Jessica Shaw, the organiser of the event, suffered 3 miscarriages in the 2 years before having a successful pregnancy. She organised the first concert in 2009 after her 2nd miscarriage as a way to help her come to terms with the loss and to let other families out there know that they are not alone. Following the successful concert, which was hosted by Shane Richie, she started her blog B-Loss-On. On it she shares her experiences of struggling to get pregnant, losing 3 babies and her successful pregnancy. She also posts stories from the news about baby and infant loss as well as other fundraising events. Her daughter, Lili, was born in January this year.
